Buttercup
Our space for children aged 3 months to 2 years where we help children develop those all important first steps (sometimes literally) and lay the foundations for their educational journey.
Poppy
Our room for children aged 2 to 3 years provides a stimulating and engaging space for our younger children to explore as they develop their social and communication skills.
Daisy
Our space for children aged 3 to 4 years provides our children further opportunities explore their independence through play as they grow.
Our Ethos
At the Garden Nursery, we strive to encourage independence and help all of our children be happy, confident and well-balanced. Generally, play is as unsupervised as we can allow, to provide the children opportunities to explore and grow. However, alongside this freedom, we guide the children in learning to accept and follow certain rules of behaviour and ensure they respect the freedom of other children.
Our environment, which is designed to promote individual choice, also relies heavily on collective responsibility. We know how important community is to families and children’s development, and as such we aim to be a parent-involving, community-based group.

A Staple of Childcare in Frome Since 1968
The Garden Nursery has been helping children blossom as a proud part of the community in Frome for over half a century. Our foundations were laid back in 1968 when a small playgroup was established in the hall of St Mary’s Church. This playgroup gradually grew in attendance throughout the 1970s, with many local children having attended at some point during their preschool years.
Growing with the times, the playgroup eventually gave way to a purpose-built nursery setting that has been built in the walled grounds of the church’s vicarage. This allows us access to two wonderful, and secure, outdoor spaces for children to play in, which excellently complement the two spacious and well-equipped indoor playrooms we have for our children to explore.
From our simple beginnings to our current facilities, we have had the pleasure to be a small part of the lives of thousands of children over the years; and we’re keen to meet the children that will shape our next 50 years and beyond!
