Our Buttercup room is run by Sophie, our room supervisor, and along with the support of her amazing team, ensures that each day is inviting, engaging, and nurturing. With a home-from-home feel, the Buttercup Room provides a warm and comforting environment where our youngest children can feel secure and begin to build strong, trusting relationships. Our children move into the Poppy Room the term after they turn two.
In Buttercup, we focus on the unique needs of babies and toddlers, following their interests while gently introducing rich experiences to support their early development. Sensory play, soothing routines, and one-to-one interactions help foster curiosity and connection during this important stage.
Young children have a natural desire to explore and discover. Our carefully designed environment encourages this by offering core provisions that support movement, communication, and emotional development. We use an ‘in the moment’ planning approach – tuning in to each child’s signals and interests, and using these teachable moments to extend their learning. Written planning is then recorded through observations, interactions, and outcomes to celebrate and support each child’s progress.
